On this week's Butter Presents series we caught up with the one & only, Jaecy

Jaecy is wearing the latest from LA based brand, Cease + Desist now available online & in-store at Butter Sydney.

You may not know it yet, but Cease + Desist is the modern streetwear brand that needs to be on your radar. Founded by Fred Saint Foster, the self-taught designer has earned accolades and celebrity fans that range from Future to Beyoncé.

While the brand’s roots go back as far as 2013, Cease + Desist was formally founded in 2014. Initial success was rooted in support from some of the worlds biggest artists; Foster has a history in creating custom pieces for big name clients, and Future was an early fan. “The first person I made a custom piece before I went to production, I made it for Future,” Foster explained to XXL. “I made a custom piece for him and he wore it, I think in the "Love Me" video with Drake and Lil Wayne. I think that was the first person to wear it.” The relationship between Foster and Future would evolve into bigger projects after that initial interaction, with Foster ultimately designing the merch for a number of Future-adjacent pop-ups and events—not to mention the rapper’s “Summer Sixteen” tour and Freebandz music label.

Cease + Desist manages to balance the worlds of streetwear and contemporary luxury, combining cut and sew tailoring with oversized graphic tees, branded caps and even a pair of Italian made sneakers. Taking on the sling bag and chest rig trend, Cease + Desist offers “Cargo Rig” T-shirt and hoodies, featuring (as the name implies) a detachable chest rig that velcros right to the front each item.

Cease + Desist may be under the radar at the moment, but some of the world’s biggest names are proving it’s about to become the next can’t miss brand.

Jaecy is a rising star from Sydney's south west, with musical influences from local & international sounds. Read more from our chat with him below.

Hey Jaecy! Can you please tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?

Well obviously my name is Jaecy, I’m from Bankstown which is an area in Sydney, Australia. I’m a 20 year old west African and I make music.

How & why did you get into music?

I’ve loved music ever since I was a kid I guess. like many others I just decided to put pen to paper, voice to mic & I found myself sounding good.

Who are some of your local & international music influences?

Locally I’ve always listened to music from Blessed, Manu Crooks or even Hooligan Hefs! I listen to a lot of international music, stemming from America to the UK, 2 of many artists in my playlist could be Jhus from London & we all know 50 Cent.
What’s something you love about Sydney’s music/creative scene?

I guess I love the growth I see from the whole game itself and the potential here is major if people act right.

And if you could change anything about the scene, what would it be?

Nothing really, everything adds up to something even if you don’t like it.

How did you find this Cease & Desist drop? How would you style these items for everyday wear?

Man I'd go crazy with them cause there are so many colours on the drop that you can mix & mess around with & ultimately you can incorporate them in your everyday wear.

Lastly, what’s your favourite menu item at Butter?

Can’t go out sad with the fried Chicken and doughnut + the Cheezus, they’re a must!
